Tell us about yourself, where you're from, your age etc:

My name is Georgie and I’m 28 years old living in Sydney. I graduated from COFA with a degree in design.

What is your artistic process?:

At jamoo we collect vintage beach towels from all over Australia and transform them into clothes such as jumpers, shirts, hats, and shorts. There is no rigidity to the process, every day we are constantly exploring different ways to design new forms of towel expression. A lot of our ideas sometimes stem from the feedback of our buyers which is always interesting and fun to hear.

How does your work reference 'Sustainability':

We are repurposing old towels and giving them another life. What would essentially end up in landfill now becomes a functional wearable item. The excess scraps are used for weaving furniture which is another branch of the business that is beginning to grow slowly. We also use recycled packaging.

How did you start / Who inspires you and your work?:

It started from covid and a loss of job. What was simply a hobby and a love for Australia beach culture, especially from the 60s and 70s era, the business organically formed. Alot of friends and family around me shared this same appreciation and then i began to start collecting towels and here we are now.

Marine Serre & Tigra Tigra often give me inspiration.

Who is your dream collaboration with and why?

The list is endless.
